Runscars presents critical reception, expert consensus and user rankings separately. Markets are shown as context, never as a vote.
Predictions
Each professional source contributes its most recent eligible publication for each category and intention. A source counts once, even when it publishes several experts. AwardsWatch follows Erik Anderson’s column and Next Best Picture follows Matt Neglia’s profile, with attribution to each author.
Community
Rankings belong to each user. Public visibility is optional and never changes professional consensus or critical reception.
EQUAL WEIGHT PER SOURCE
From each list to a comparable scale
points = (length − rank + 1) / length
First place receives 1 and last place receives 1/length. Points are averaged across eligible ordered sources; an absent candidate receives zero. Unordered selections count towards coverage only. Consensus requires four current, automated, publishable ranked sources. Scores are not nomination probabilities; different list lengths can assign different points to the same rank.
TIME
It changes only when the evidence changes
The ranking updates when predictions change or expire after 30 days. For undated NBP and Midnight Critics lists, that period starts with the first capture of the current category list: changes to other categories or secondary credits do not renew it. Earlier cuts apply the same limit using the available evidence. If a historical source's date cannot be verified, movement comparison pauses. Original locked captures remain intact.
LOCKS AND CORRECTIONS
Predictions stay on the record
Nomination and winner locks cannot be changed. If there is an error, a linked replacement version is published with a reason while the previous record remains intact. Official results follow the same rule.
PROVENANCE AND FRESHNESS
Every number must show its source
We preserve source, URL, author when available, publication date, capture date and original value. One source failing does not block the others, and uncertain matches enter editorial review.

Cast awards and guild eligibility keep their own meaning. They provide context alongside professional predictions.
